Last week, AMR Research presented three awards for innovation in business technology at its Strategy 21 Conference. The second annual AMR Research Innovation Awards are designed to honor breakthrough ideas by small, midsize, and large companies.

AMR Research received over 150 nominations and chose the winners based on whether or not the company's unique product addresses a key business issue, has spurred new business, and provides a competitive advantage.

The 2006 Winners:

Large company (more than $100M in annual revenue) "With Dassault Systemes' "3D For All" initiative, which seeks to make the use of 3D available to the masses beyond traditional engineering design groups, the company has chosen to think beyond traditional uses of 3D design data. The initiative allows a broader community to benefit from this technology, and extends the way manufacturers can leverage this digital asset.

Midsize company ($10M-$100M in annual revenue) "Endeca is a fast growing guided navigation, search, and analysis company with over 300 clients, including Wal-Mart.com, Circuit City, Home Depot, NASA, and John Deere. Recently named IBM's partner of the year, Endeca powered IBM's On Demand Workplace and helped save the company $500 million.

Small company (under $10M in annual revenue) " In the past year, Eyelit has begun delivery of next generation MES capabilities by providing highly modular MES functionality and operations process management functionality for constructing MES composite applications from legacy manufacturing applications.

In addition, AMR Research recognized IBM for its continued innovation. Of note, IBM was awarded over 3,000 patents in 2005.

"Since starting the company in 1986, AMR Research has long appreciated the innovation that goes into creating new software products," said Bruce Richardson, chief research officer at AMR Research. "Last year, we decided to honor innovation in business for the first time. This year's program was equally successful and we are proud to award Dassault Systemes, Endeca, and Eyelit."

The award ceremony was the capstone to a two-day conference designed to present technology and software providers with the tools necessary to understand market trends and customer needs. At Strategy 21, executives from SAP, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft and other technology vendors presented alongside AMR Research analysts.
